Expertise in analytical chemistry regarding persistent organic pollutants, in particular emerging organic pollutants, as well as familiarity with the necessary analytical techniques is required. Familiarity with ‘green chemistry’ processes and experience in the recovery of monomers from polymeric waste materials.
The main activities include the basic characterisation of different materials and the development of new strategies to recover materials from industrial waste that, if properly treated, allow safe and sustainable re-use.
Tasks:
The candidate will perform the following tasks:
- Carry out studies and research in the framework of projects co-funded with public funds, such as the ERDF Programme 2021-2027, Horizon Europe, etc.
- Collaborate with partners from research and industry as well as public authorities in research projects at regional, national and international level.
- Support the submission of project proposals in co-funding calls, as well as the management of publicly funded research projects.
- Carry out instrumental analyses to characterise different types of polymers.
- Develop new material recovery strategies with a polymer focus.
- Write scientific publications and project reports (deliverables, etc.).
- Engage in wider dissemination of results.
Requirements:
- PhD in chemistry with a focus on the development of new methods and processes in green chemistry.
- Research skills are desirable, with demonstrated experience in conducting literature reviews, design of experiments, measurement of chemical parameters and statistical analysis of data.
- Good knowledge of the English language, written and spoken.
- Competence to produce peer-reviewed scientific publications.
- Ability to carry out tasks independently.
- Proactivity and ability to work in a multidisciplinary research team.
What we offer:
